Will the Next War Start in Space?

Many of us are rightly concerned about the situation in many of the world’s trouble spots. Every year, there seem to be more and more areas that have a match close to the powder keg, and a number of countries don’t seem to care if the fuse is lit. You may already have a queasy feeling in your stomach about the possibility of war with Iran, Russia, China, and others. You might be dismayed, but not surprised that a war might break out. Here’s where the surprise comes in: The war could start in space. read more

American Survival Radio

In this episode of American Survival Radio (March 25, 2017), host Joe Alton goes it alone when Amy leaves times for family business.  The attack on Westminster bridge by a jihadist kills several, wounds many more, and points to the new blueprint for terrorists. They don’t need a bomb, they don’t need guns, they just need a vehicle to kill and maim innocent citizens. Find out what you can do to identify and avoid these threats in the uncertain future.  (Dr. Alton’s article on vehicular terror on this website has so far been picked up by at least 20 other sites!) read more

The Vehicle as Terror Weapon

Vehicles as Terror Weapons

In these days of Pokemon Go and other smartphone distractions, you’re seeing more and more people oblivious of their surroundings. In the past, this might get you a bump on the head by walking into a lamp post. In today’s world, however, it could cost you your life.

As an Anglophile, I have often visited London and walked from my hotel to parliament and other sites via the Westminster bridge. Today, on the anniversary of the terrorist attack in Belgium, someone used a vehicle to mow down pedestrians on the bridge and then, apparently, left the car to continue a rampage that has left a number of casualties in its wake. read more

Nightclubs: Soft Targets for Terrorists

In an attack reminiscent of the Orlando terror event last year, a popular nightclub became a slaughterhouse on New Year’s Eve when a gunman caused 39 deaths and about 70 injured. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the incident.

As a physician, my focus is how to heal wounds, not how to cause them. A terrorist, however, has quite different goals. Normally, they have a short window of opportunity, and their focus is to cause as many casualties as possible during their brief (hopefully) remaining time on Earth. read more

Trump

In this episode of American Survival Radio, hosts Joe and Amy Alton discuss faithless electors and their long-shot efforts to derail the election of Donald Trump. Plus, the press is crying out against the “lack of experience” of some of Trump appointees, like Ben Carson, but is a cabinet job, pardon the Carson pun, brain surgery? What you need and what you don’t to function in a cabinet post.

Also, the Oakland Warehouse fire claims 36 lives of people at a dance party, but was found to be an illegal residence, without fire alarms or sprinklers, that was, essentially, a death trap. Did Oakland City officials drop the ball by being “kind-hearted” to these squatters? No city inspector had entered the building for a decade despite building violation complaints (5 in the last 2 years). Find out more and what you can do to avoid finding yourself in this situation. read more
